An international online event brought together 120 young women and students from North Macedonia, Turkey, Kosovo, Spain and Mozambique to discuss leadership, career opportunities and the future of strategic industries.
The event, titled “Leading in Energy and Mining: The Professional Journey of Sanja Bozhinovska,” focused on inspiring young women to pursue careers and leadership roles in energy, engineering and mining — sectors that play a key role in economic development and technological progress.

The initiative was organised by the Ministry of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources, Limak Foundation, Women on Boards Adria (WOBA) and Global Engineer Girls (GEG), bringing together students, young engineers and sector leaders to exchange experiences and perspectives on the evolving role of women in STEM fields.
During the discussion, Minister of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources Sanja Bozhinovska shared insights from her professional journey and reflected on the rapid transformation of the energy sector.

“Energy systems are transforming, and technology is developing faster than ever. That is why we need new generations of engineers and leaders — including more young women who will shape the future of this sector with their knowledge and ambition,” said Minister Bozhinovska.
The event also addressed the importance of greater representation of women in leadership and decision-making structures. Tanja Mihajlovska Dimitrievska, Lead Ambassador for North Macedonia at Women on Boards Adria, emphasised the importance of inclusive leadership in strategic sectors.
“At Women on Boards Adria, we are committed to working with institutions, companies and educational initiatives to ensure that leadership reflects the full talent available. When leadership reflects competence — fully and fairly — our industries, our economy and our future are stronger.”

The event formed part of the Global Engineer Girls programme, an international initiative that supports young women in STEM through scholarships, mentoring, internships and professional development opportunities.
By bringing together students and experienced leaders, the event created space for intergenerational dialogue and inspiration, reinforcing a clear message: the future of energy, engineering and innovation will increasingly depend on diverse and inclusive leadership.
