Triglav Osiguranje Život AD Skopje, part of the Triglav Group, has partnered with Women on Boards Adria (WOBA) to increase the number of women in leadership and board positions across North Macedonia’s insurance industry.
The initiative comes as women now make up more than half of the Triglav Group’s workforce and hold over 40 per cent of first- and second-level management roles. At the board level, women account for 25 per cent of the Supervisory Board and 20 per cent of the Management Board, reflecting steady progress and a clear commitment to the Group’s diversity policy, which aims for 33 per cent representation of the underrepresented gender in governance structures.
“The collaboration with Women on Boards Adria represents an opportunity for us to build a more inclusive business community and to share valuable experience that corresponds to the mission of this inspiring initiative”, said Hristina Dzambazovska Anastasov, CEO and Executive member of the Board of Directors of Triglav Osiguranje Život AD Skopje.
She added that inclusion is not a policy goal but a performance factor.
“At Triglav Osiguranje Život AD Skopje, and in the Triglav Group in general, we believe that women, with their skills, vision, and leadership, play a key role in making strategic decisions and creating sustainable development. With this partnership, we want to open more perspectives for women in management structures and show that the true strength of an organisation lies in the diversity of talents, perspectives, and ideas”, said Dzambazovska Anastasov.
The collaboration with Women on Boards Adria will focus on board-readiness training, leadership mentoring, and peer networks for women in insurance and finance. The initiative also aims to raise awareness of the business and governance benefits of gender-balanced leadership, an issue increasingly relevant as companies face complex economic and social risks.
“Insurance is about managing risk and building trust, and both are stronger when leadership is diverse”, said Biljana Braithwaite, Chair of Women on Boards Adria.
She noted that the partnership builds on Triglav’s progress while setting a new benchmark for the region.
“Triglav has already made important progress, and through this partnership, we want to take the next step: preparing more women for board roles and showing that gender balance is not only fair, but fundamental for good governance and long-term resilience in the sector and beyond”, she concluded.
Equality and inclusiveness are key pillars of Triglav’s operations. The company believes that diversity drives innovation and growth, ensuring equal access to opportunities for all employees, regardless of gender, origin, or beliefs. By supporting such a culture, Triglav Osiguranje Život AD Skopje aims to deliver results while inspiring change in the wider community.
Women on Boards Adria is a regional initiative dedicated to increasing the number of women in executive and board positions across Southeast Europe. Through training, mentoring, research, and advocacy, WOBA works with leading companies and institutions to build stronger, more diverse leadership pipelines that reflect the region’s talent.
