In a world where leadership is often equated with visibility, Nina Nedanoska offers a powerful reminder: sometimes, true leadership is simply about being present, consistent, and fair.
Speaking at the Women on Boards Adria’s Leadership Talk, the Deputy President of the Management Board at Sparkasse Bank AD Skopje reflected on more than two decades of experience in banking, leadership, and breaking boundaries. Through her journey to becoming a top executive, Nina shared how values-driven leadership shaped her career.
“You don’t have to be the loudest voice in the room to lead,” she explained. “Although I can be loud,” she laughed, “what matters more is how consistent and fair you are.”
At the heart of her message was a deep commitment to values: respect, responsibility, continuous learning, and passion. These are not just abstract ideals at Sparkasse Bank: they’re practiced daily and reflected in the organisation’s culture.
“No team can function without mutual respect. Responsibility is a value not only professionally but also personally. Learning is essential because everything is constantly evolving. And passion, passion is what drives us to not just meet goals but exceed them.”
This philosophy also extends to mentorship. Nina has guided countless colleagues into roles better suited to their talents, even when it meant transferring them out of her own department. Her goal: get the right people into the right positions and help them grow.
Sparkasse Bank, as a founding corporate partner of Women on Boards Adria, is a standout example in the region. With 50% women on its Management Board and 60% in top management, the numbers speak to a culture that values inclusion by design, not by obligation.
Balancing motherhood and leadership has been central to Nina’s journey. She openly spoke about the sacrifices, the structure she built around her children, and the belief that you can pursue both family and career without regret.
“If you want something, do it. Don’t spend your life wondering what you missed. If you’re fulfilled at work, you’ll be happier at home too.”
Her parting message was simple yet profound: Dream boldly. Act even bolder.
