27/08/2024

We proudly announce our partnership with Gender Equality Alliance (GEA), an initiative of the e-Commerce Association of North Macedonia, advocating for non-discrimination, equal rights, and opportunities for all, as well as promoting the importance of gender equality in the workplace for greater competitiveness, diversity, and improved business results for companies, with a focus on the role of equality in the digital economy, technology, digitization, and e-commerce.

The President of the GEA, Nina Angelovska Stankov, and Tanja Mihajlovska Dimitrovska, WOBA Ambassador and Lead for North Macedonia signed a memorandum of cooperation with the aim of realizing joint activities focused on promoting gender equality in the workplace.

GEA and WOBA, together with the business sector, government, and international institutions, will collaborate to promote equal rights, equal opportunities, and equal valuation of labour in the workplace, as well as to increase greater representation of women on boards and in the leadership positions in companies across the Adria region.

“By signing this memorandum, GEA and WOBA strengthen their joint commitment to advancing gender equality in the workplace, particularly in decision-making and leadership processes. This cooperation is of strategic importance to us, as it allows us to intensify our impact and advance gender diversification at all levels of the workplace, not only in Macedonia but also in the region. Together, we will work to break down barriers that prevent women from reaching leadership positions in order to accelerate progress toward achieving equal rights, equal opportunities, and equal valuation of labor in the workplace and aligning with European standards for gender equality in governance”, stated Nina Angelovska Stankov, President of the Gender Equality Alliance.

“Women on Boards Adria (WOBA) is committed to promoting gender diversity in business by encouraging companies to appoint more women to their boards”, said Biljana Braithwaite, Chair of Women on Boards Adria. “Our partnership with the Gender Equality Alliance is vital for advancing gender balance, improving women’s societal positions, and ensuring equal rights and opportunities in North Macedonia and the broader region. With the expertise of GEA, we aim to boost competitiveness, diversity, and business outcomes, particularly in the digital economy and technology sectors.”

She added, “We strive to empower women by offering training and mentoring to enhance their skills for management board roles, preparing companies to meet European standards. Achieving outstanding results is our goal, and we deeply value the support of the Gender Equality Alliance on this important journey.”

“Together with corporate partners, strategic partners, organizations with similar missions, board members, ambassadors, and supporters in North Macedonia and the entire Adria region, we aim to achieve the necessary growth in gender diversification on boards and in senior leadership positions. Through talent development, training, building leadership networks, and mentoring programs, we want to prepare professionals for career advancement”, stated Mihajlovska Dimitrievska.

By signing this Memorandum, GEA and WOBA reaffirm their joint commitment to advancing gender diversification and ensuring inclusivity at all levels of the workplace, with the aim of aligning regional gender policies with EU policies and addressing a broader range of issues affecting gender inequality in the business sector and supporting women in achieving their educational and business endeavors.
