A truly sustainable energy transition requires more than technology — it calls for inclusive leadership, diversity of thought, and long-term social commitment. At the ESG Adria Summit, Women on Boards Adria (WOBA) and Elektroprivreda Crne Gore AD Nikšić (EPCG) signed a Memorandum of Understanding, formalising a joint commitment to gender equality and responsible growth in the energy sector.
“Women in EPCG play a crucial role in shaping Montenegro’s energy future,” said Ivan Bulatović, CEO of EPCG. “This partnership strengthens our ability to grow sustainably and contribute to broader social change.”
As Montenegro’s leading energy provider, EPCG is placing environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles at the core of its business strategy. This new partnership with WOBA reinforces that commitment — positioning diversity and equal opportunity not just as ethical values, but as essential to long-term success.
Together, WOBA and EPCG will work to improve gender balance in leadership and decision-making roles, exchange knowledge and expertise, and launch joint projects focused on mentoring and inclusion. The aim is to turn values into concrete action, building a more representative and resilient energy sector.
“An energy transition can only be fair if it is equal,” said Biljana Braithwaite, Chair of WOBA. “When women are given space to lead, we don’t just change who is in the room — we redefine the values that shape our shared future.”
With active investments in renewables and a growing focus on social impact, EPCG is already showing that business performance and gender equality are not in conflict — but mutually reinforcing.
This collaboration sets a new benchmark for inclusive leadership in the region’s energy transition — one that is not only green, but fair and just.
